Slide Privacy

Here are a few things you can do to help make sure no one else has access to your Slide account:

1. Make sure you keep your password confidential and do not disclose it to anyone.
2. Don't use a password that your friends or family or a stranger can easily guess.
3. Be sure to click the "logout" link at the top right of any Slide page every time you finish visiting the site.
This is especially important if you use a shared or public computer.
4. Make sure you set any item (Slideshows, Guestbook, FunPix) as "private".
5. Don't include private personal information such as your home address or telephone number on your profile. Only share personal information with your friends and people you trust.
6. Follow the privacy settings in the "Privacy" section (http://www.slide.com/static/privacy). Privacy information is available at the bottom right corner of any Slide page.

Are my Friends/Fans notified when I create or edit content in my account?

When you create or edit a public Slideshow, FunPix, Guestbook, or SkinFlix AND people are listed as Friends or Fans of your account, they will receive an e-mail notification and be invited to view the changes. If you do not want anyone to be notified, be sure to mark the content private (*). For more information, visit these FAQs:

- How to set a Slideshow, FunPix, Guestbook, or SkinFlix to Private/Public?
- Slide Privacy

* Note: Private items can still be posted on any website of your choice. The privacy setting simply prevents friend notifications from being sent out, your images from being copied, and hides your content from site searches.

Return to Slide Account Settings

What are Fans or Friends and how do I manage them?

Slide Fans or Friends are people who have signed up to receive updates when you post public content in your Slide account. When someone views your Slideshow when it is displayed at Slide.com, they are given the option to follow you by entering their e-mail address. To manage your "Fans/Friends," follow these steps:

1. Sign into your Slide.com account
2. Click on your Display Name at the top
3. Click on the "Edit Friends" icon in the upper right
4. From here you can view and manage the list of people who will receive updates to your public content
     a. You may remove friends
     b. You may ban friends (prevents them from adding you again)
     c. You may view their profile by clicking on their name or profile photos
     d. You may view people who are "stars" in your Slideshow
     e. You may view the history of reviews you have given or received on Slideshows as well

You can prevent notifications from being sent out by following the steps at the FAQ titled Are my Friends/Fans notified when I create or edit content in my account?

Slide Item Options (Set to Private, Share, Download Slideshow Images)

How to set a Slideshow, FunPix, Guestbook, or SkinFlix to Private/Public?

Private content is hidden from the public view of your Slide profile. However, marking an item private does not affect your ability to display it on another website. Marking an item private also will protect any images hosted directly by Slide.com (*), so that people will be unable to copy them using the mouse's right click button.

To make an item (Slideshow, FunPix, Guestbook, or SkinFlix) private:

1. Sign in to http://www.slide.com
2. Click your Display Name at the top of the page
3. Hold your mouse over on the 'Options' link located on the right side next to the item you want to set to public or private
4. From the 'Options' menu, scroll down and choose 'Make Private' or 'Make Public'
* View screenshot: http://vvcap.net/db/HqA8RMK_Km6ixtdFb90R.htp
5. A window will pop up saying 'Are you sure you want to make this private/public?'
6. Press the 'Ok' button and you are done

* Note: Any images that you have hosted on another website, such as Flickr, Photobucket, MySpace, Hi5, Facebook, Friendster, etc., are not protected by the Slide privacy setting. You must configure the privacy settings on the site where the images are stored. Slide suggests that you always upload your images directly (from your personal computer) to Slide.com if you are concerned with image security.

How can I add music (one song) to my Slideshow?

Currently there are two kinds of music you can add to a Slideshow. Music videos or music without videos. The two different kinds are identified on the music selection page. If an item is a music video, then the video component cannot be removed and will always be attached to the Slideshow. You can select music that is audio only by finding the selections that say "Listen."

Note that you can choose any video you want, including any music videos that are hosted on http://www.youtube.com/. Due to this, you should be able to find just about every artist or song you want to hear. You can find this music though our music search feature. To access that and change the music on your Slideshow, follow these steps:

1. Sign into http://www.slide.com/
2. Click your Display at the top of the page
3. Find the item you would like to edit from the 'Slideshow' list
4. Hover your mouse over the 'Options' link at the far right
5. Select the 'Edit' option from the list
6. Click on the 'Music' tab under the 'Customize' section
7. The preview section shows our most popular songs. If you don't see a song you like, click on 'View more music/videos'
8. In the search area, enter the name of the artist you want to hear or a name of a song
9. Choose the song from the results that appear by choosing the 'Add' link at the end of the line
10. Select whether or not you want the song to play automatically at the bottom of the 'Music' section
11. Click on 'Save'

Play music automatically - Right under the Music selection, check or un-check the box to either, "Automatically play music in Show (Music videos will not automatically play) " or not.

Play my own music - Due to legal concerns, members can only add music to our Slideshow from our Music Directory, which includes content from YouTube. You can upload your own music to YouTube. See their site for instructions.

How many images can I upload per Slideshow?

How do I change the size of my Slideshow once it has be added to a website?

When you first create a Slideshow, you have the option to select a custom size or to use the default size values. These size values are defined directly in the Slideshow code that you added to your website. In order to change the size of your Slideshow, you need to update the size values at Slide.com and then replace the old Slideshow code with the new code that incudes the updated size values.

First, you will want to remove the old Slideshow code from your website, using the instructions in this section of our FAQ page.

Next, follow these instructions to update the size of your Slideshow:

1. Sign into http://www.slide.com
2. Click your Display Name at the top of the page
3. Find the item you would like to edit from the 'Slideshow' list
4. Hover your mouse over the 'Options' link at the far right
5. Select the 'Edit' option from the list, next to the Slideshow you want to resize
6. Select ‘Size’ from the ‘Customize Your Design’ list on the right side of the page
7. Select a ‘Preset Size’ or customize the size by entering measurements into the ‘Height’ and ‘Width’ fields
8. Press the green 'Save' button
9. You may skip the next edit screen by clicking 'Save Slideshow'
10. On the next page that opens, find your website from the list (*) and follow the instructions to add your Slideshow. You may also visit this section of the FAQ page for additional instructions.

Once you have added the new Slideshow code to your web page, it will display in the new size you defined.

* Note: If you are unable to locate your website from the list of pre-defined sites we support, try and use the instructions to add to a personal website.

Slide Groups are different from the groups you create. These contain pre-set categories that anyone can submit a public item too.

Please Note: Items (Slideshows, Guestbooks, Funpix, Videos, etc) that are private can still be submitted by the owner or friends who can view that item, but it will only be viewable by that owner and their friends.

Currently Slide Groups have six pre-set categories which makes it easier for others to find similiar-themed items. Click HERE to view the Slide Groups profile page. If you need to know how to Add or Delete an item from the Slide Groups, follow the directions below.

I created a Slideshow/Guestbook and now I can't make any changes?

Did you create your Slideshow without being signed in your Slide account?

Feed Master is a generic account that is used for any Slideshow, Guestbook, FunPix, or SkinFlix that is not associated with a user's personal Slide account. It is most often used when someone creates a Slideshow, Guestbook, etc. but hasn't signed in to their own Slide account.

We can easily re-associate any Guestbook or Slideshow to your primary Slide account if you send us a link to it or if you have the embed code. Once it is associated to your account, you’ll be able to edit it any way you want. To obtain this information please click on the VIEW ALL IMAGES/GUESTS button below your item, or click on the Slideshow, Guestbook, FunPix or SkinFlix itself. Once the new page loads, please send Slide Customer Support, the link displayed at the top of the page. Complete this form to contact us: http://www.slide.com/feedback

Here are some examples of how the Slideshow/Guestbook link should look:

Make sure you install the newest version of Flash Player:

http://www.adobe.com/go/getflashplayer --- When installing Flash Player, a small window will pop-up. Make sure you choose the browser you are currently using (Firefox, Internet Explore, etc).

If you you using AOL as your Browser-

You'll need to disable the graphics compression within your browser. Follow these steps to turn image compression off:

1. On the AOL toolbar, click the Settings icon
2. Click the Internet (Web) Options link
3. On the TopSpeed tab, under Web Graphics Compression, click Never compress graphics
4. Click the Save button

You can also use another browser (we definitely encourage it), such as Firefox 3.5 or Internet Explorer 8.0 (non-AOL version).

Are you importing images from Photobucket, Flickr, MySpace, or another site?

If you're importing images from another site that aren't jpegs, they may not display in your Slideshow. We suggest these images be downloaded to your computer, and then re-uploaded to our site directly from your hard drive. This process will convert your images to JPG format so that you can view them.

If you upload images from your profile (MySpace, Facebook, Blogger, etc) and you decide to delete any of these images, they will also be removed from your Slideshow, since the image source has been removed, in this case, from your profile.
